Jess Benson
BArch (Hons) MSc MRICS

Senior Surveyor

Jess started out in the industry by gaining a degree in Architecture but after a year out and a slight change of direction she completed a master’s degree in Building Surveying with distinction. She quickly found a role in the industry and now has over 10 years surveying experience, gaining her Chartership in 2015 and joining the team at Wellington King in 2019. Jess has experience in Contract Administration, Party Wall Surveying, Fund Monitoring and Project Management but her real passion is working with historic and Listed Buildings.

Outside work, Jess enjoys playing her bassoon in a local wind band, walking the dog and spending time with her family who spend their weekends exploring the country in their new campervan.

Tom House
BSc (Hons) AssocRICS MCIOB

Senior Surveyor

Tom’s career started on site as a skilled labourer. A few years in Tom commenced a home-learning degree in Building Surveying through the University College of Estate Management before starting work in 2014 as a Trainee Surveyor. Tom joined Wellington King Ltd in 2015 when it first started and has been there ever since, other than a year’s hiatus in 2020-2021 at a local Housing Association to gain experience diagnosing defects and specifying remedial works. Over the years Tom has gained considerable experience in Independent Monitoring Surveying, Project Management and Defect Analysis. Tom obtained a first class honours when completing his home learning degree, and has since become Chartered Construction Manager with the Chartered Institute of Building, and is an Associate member of the RICS.

Outside of work Tom has a young family and a lively cocker spaniel, but when free time comes around he enjoys anything sport related, particularly a round of golf.

Dave King

Building Surveyor

Dave has worked within the built environment for over 10 years, starting out as an electrical apprentice, before becoming qualified and progressing to running his own company. Dave has also undertaken a number of smaller residential development projects since 2016, including refurbishments, extensions, loft conversions and new builds, in which he uses the knowledge and experience gained from doing so to assist with his role at Wellington King, understanding the wider picture of property development.

Dave eventually took a leap of faith and jumped into the professional side of the industry, and in doing so joined Wellington King as a Surveyor. Dave is also currently enrolled at the University College of Estate Management for the Chartered Building Surveying course and intends to undertake the Assessment of Professional Competence with the aim of becoming Chartered.

Dave has recently taken up golf and is a member of Bulbury Golf Course. When not looking for his lost golf balls, Dave also enjoys spending time with his dog (and co-worker) Willow, the fox red Labrador, or socialising with family and friends.
